Everything was simply amazing at The Marlene! We were doing a surprise birthday there and the staff helped us with everything. It was amazing! I’ve had To Events there and I will continue to have more. Such a lovely experience!!

Beautiful architecture, excellent location, fantastic staff

The hotel was lovely and well-maintained historic property in the Avondale area. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the onsite bar was staffed with excellent bar tenders and drink recipes. The staff went over and above assisting us with our complete stay. A popup antique show happened during our stay which was a plus, and an after dinner drink on the outside porch swing was fantastic! The Marlene is in walking distance to the Montrose restaurant scene and a short Uber ride to River Oaks area. I heartily recommend the Marlene to anyone who enjoys a quiet vintage neighborhood near downtown Houston.

Home away from home!

A charming bed & breakfast tucked into a historic Houston neighborhood, just a short drive from Daikin Park (Astros) and the Toyota Center (Rockets). The Southern hospitality was truly on point — we were greeted by Gabby with genuine warmth, generosity, and a deep-rooted politeness. She took the time to show us to our room, answer our questions, and made us feel right at home.
Bar Madonna, their on-site cocktail lounge, is a fantastic spot to enjoy a classic drink. Ethan and Carlton are exceptional mixologists — knowledgeable, passionate, and incredibly welcoming. Their energy and craft elevated our experience, and we loved every moment spent there.
We would absolutely stay here again the next time we’re in Houston. Highly recommend!
French-style breakfast and gated parking were included with our stay.

Great splurge with husband

Every detail was perfect. Champagne at check in, a little treat waiting in the room, gorgeous literally everywhere. The staff were all so nice. I had a cocktail in the bar that was wonderful. Worth the splurge.

We had the Thelma room and it had en excellent bed, shower and airco. If you have people upstairs you might hear it as there is a staircase next to the room and a room above.
Staff is excellent as well and Tim and the young lady were especially helpful. The valet guy was super friendly and so was the rest of the staff we met.
Breakfast is limited in choice but very good in quality.
