Holmen Husky Lodge

Staying at Holmen Husky is an experience far away from staying at an ordinary hotel. We want our guests to get closer to nature and to get a taste of what it is like to live close to the elements. Holmen Husky is a small, family-run business who has been working with dogs since the 80s. Some of us have even grown up in the dogyard and on the sled. It is much more than an activity or an experience that has got us all addicted. it’s a feeling that must be experienced. Now we wish to let our guests get a taste of what we fell in love with. We welcome you to our home at Holmen and our way of living.

Cosy and extremely confortable location to stay near to Alta.

It was our second stay at Holmen Husky Lodge, the first time since the 7 Forest suites have been built. And we will for sure come back next year.
Everything was so great that we were sad to leave… The suite is large, cosy, with a large place to stay at ground floor and an ultra confortable bed at first floor. With a nice view, giving you the feeling to be alone in the nature. You see that single detail has been taken into consideration. The restaurant is excellent. Saskia, the Chef has a great talent to sublime flavours.
Sauna and jacuzzi are also available to enjoy relaxing time after a long day outside.

The most amazing holiday

We had the most amazing holiday with Holmen Husky. We booked their 5 day experience and enjoyed every moment. It truly was the “holiday of a lifetime” but we are already planning our return. We were very impressed by Holmen’s care of their dogs, they are the most incredible animals. When they are pulling the sled, they focus and work brilliantly as a team, but then will lap up cuddles and fuss when they are not at work. Our musher, Phill, looked after us impeccably. We really felt as though we were immersed in the activity, from beginning to end. It is a perfectly paced package, allowing you to relax into a stunning Forest Suite upon arrival, meet your fellow travellers, and taste the delicious local food. Then you become a musher for 3 days, taking in the breathtaking scenery and local culture, before returning to one of the Suites for your final evening. We cannot thank you enough Phill (and all of the team at Holmen), we will recommend the trip to everyone!

It was phenomenal!

The A-frame cabin was unbelievably comfortable from the full side view window out to the snow-covered woods along with the fireplace to keep you cozy, to the upstairs window cut into the ceiling for viewing the Northern Lights right from the bedroom area. They were brand new with modern bathroom facilities and radiant heating in the floors. But the best part about Holmen are the people. From the check-in girl to the kitchen chef and staff to the activities leaders, they are all happy and anxious to help you have the best time possible. They are all totally competent to do whatever activity they are guiding you - dog sledding, snowmobiling, reindeer sleigh riding, chasing the Northern Lights, etc. The central dining area faces out to the huskies and we thoroughly enjoyed watching all the huskies in their natural living around their little houses. The chef was phenomenal with meals that would be at a 5-star hotel, yet in a down-to-earth setting. I've told all my friends and family that they should take a trip to Norway specifically to go to this place. What an experience!

What an Amazing Place!

What an amazing experience at Holmen Husky Lodge! Our lodge was wonderful, the food was fantastic, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We had over a meter of snow during our five day visit and the dogs loved it. Made for memorable dogsledding and the winter wonderland foregrounds made our northern lights photos special. Having never visited northern Norway, we valued the advice and help of the team at Holmen to book activities throughout our short week. Cannot recommend this place highly enough! Go,already...

Wonderful experience

Travelled with my 17 year old son. We loved it. Such an incredible experience to share with my son. The setting is just magical and taking charge of your own husky team was a great way to get fully involved in the experience. Be warned its cold!!! heated warmers for feet and hands required.
