The calm falls

Steien Hotel is highly recommended! Beautiful and respectfully renovated skyscanner station in the heart of Alvdal. Peaceful area, the calm decreases as soon as you enter places. Personal and friendly welcome from the owners.
Dinner in the form of soup and foccacia, and a lovely breakfast was served in a cosy dining room.
The room was tastefully furnished with sitting area and a very good bed, with very good pillows and duvets. The room did not have a TV, and it was actually a relief. Very pleasant not having a TV that noises in the background.
The garden of the hotel was beautiful and well-maintained. Clearly the drivers are proud of the place and like what they do. This does not come by itself.

Honourable and fabulous place.

Incredibly friendly and service friendly host. Great room. Shiny clean and delicious beds. Great history at the hotel.

Very nice hotel

We stayed two nights and had a great stay at Alvdal and Steien Hotel. The building was charming with many nice living rooms. The bedroom was excellent and the food lovely. We had dinner at the hotel both days. The host was very helpful. This place can be recommended.

Beautiful in all ways

A pleasant oasis: nice, old surroundings carefully restored, lovely food and personal service. Recommended on the warmest! I found peace in the garden where I sat and knitted before dinner, reading a pleasant article by Arne Garborg, who has stayed at the hotel.

Classical wooden hotel

Perfectly renovated and modernized classical hotel from 1877, personal service from the owners. The traditional feeling is kept while modern sound proof doors and double windows have been added. Lovely english garden in front. Our room had a fine enclosed veranda (like a winter garden). No TV in room, but fine for us. In addition to the spacious, delicate dining room, there are a couple of saloons for guests. The hotel is located next to the church and the railway station (the hotel was established in conjunction with Røros line, the first line between two major cities and regions). Steien or Steia is basically the local name for Alvdal village (Alvdal is the valley or district). But peaceful surroundings. The hotel serves dinner and breakfast. Apparently only one item on the menu each day, we had a traditional moose (elg) stew, hearty food, good quality. Breakfast was served at table and ordered for each guest. Will not hesitate to stay again. Good value for money! For the same price as hotel in Bergen this is much better.
