Quaint Small Hotel

We stayed here for one night, the owner spoke good English, which was helpful. our room was quaint and old fashioned, but very comfortable. it's an easy walk round the lake to find somewhere for dinner. there is a pretty garden too, and i'm sure in the heat of summer the garden would be a great place to spend a few hours

A decent guesthouse

This is an old wooden building with the owner living in one part and the guest rooms in another, with a separate entrance. As long as you're not expecting a hotel, it's fine. The owner speaks good German and a little English, she's helpful and not obtrusive - she left us to our own devices after telling us what there is to do in the town, where to eat, etc, but was easy to find if we needed her. The room was rather old-fashioned, the bathroom less so (thankfully). The place was spotlessly clean and the garden is lovely, as is the quiet lakeside location.

Nice guest house

We enjoyed our stay there. It's such a pretty and quiet place- with a view of Talsi old town and a lake with beautiful fountain in it. Absolutely gorgeous especially when the sun goes down.
Staff is very helpful and friendly.
There's a car park (actually two if the main one is taken).
What we missed was a fridge in the room (there's a fridge in hallway, but it's small, so, if everyone who stays want to keep something in it, there might not be enough space), also a rubbish bin would be great. The one in the bathroom is very small, so, we had to keep our rubbish in bags (mind you it was taken out during the cleaning while we were gone, so, we returned in clean space again).
Great thing- fan in the room! You don't get to stay in places in Latvia that has aircons in, so, a fan is a great value especially in hot summer.
We absolutely loved our stay and will come back again.

Our stay in Talsi

Perfect location, perfect staff, awesome cat :)
Stayed for 4 nights in room Nr5. Comfy bed, good bathroom, TV could be bigger :)
From all places where we stayed before in Talsi this one is the best one, would rate higher if we would be possible.
We are great-full to the owner for such a pleasant experience, no doubt we will stay here again.

Better than expected but not a hotel

Upon arrival, we were a bit hesitant because reality did not match the image portrayed on the site. It is not a hotel, but a guest house (no breakfast, no reception).
That being said, the stay was comfortable. The room was spatious and recently renovated as was the bathroom. There is no service, you are expected to notify the owners when you expect to arrive and they will organise (a friendly) someone to let you in. After that you're on your own.
The location is nice, next to a little lake/big pond and quiet surroundings. City centre is a 10-15 minute walk.
