Charming hotel with fantastic atmosphere – but very small room
We had booked a Petite Plus room, fully understood that the room should be small. However, the description gave the impression that there should be room for either a desk or a chair in the room. We got room 219, which was very nicely decorated and full of character, but the size surprised us. There was only room for a simple chair, and the bed was right next to the window so it was only accessible from one side. There was so much room for two small suitcases on the floor. We therefore set back with questions about what the ordinary Petite rooms really are if this was actually a Petite Plus room. Fortunately, the good ceiling height helped make the room feel less tight than it would otherwise.
The room faced the street, but it was well insulated and we did not experience traffic noise as embarrassing. The sound insulation between the rooms was also good. On the other hand, there was something listening out to the hallway. The bed had a good mattress and we slept well!
The location is a big plus. The hotel is within walking distance of the train and bus station, while shopping areas and central attractions are within close proximity. The service was pleasant and welcoming throughout our stay.
The breakfast was good and varied with a good selection of both hot and cold dishes. The roof terrace was also nice, although it does not offer the most spectacular views. Still, it was very nice to be able to enjoy a drink outdoors on the summer evening.
Overall, Hotel Pigalle is a hotel with a lot of charm, great location and a unique atmosphere. We’d love to come back – but next time we definitely choose a larger room category.
