Room spotless, we got an apartment on the top floor, glass walls facing own garden central patio, on third floor. One of the best views in fes. Better than many fancy restaurants in the area. Very central and conveniently quiet

A top class experience with wonderful breakfasts.
We booked direct with La Maison Maure and are so glad that we did. All communications were, therefore with the owner, Christiane-Stephane, who was a pleasure to deal with throughout. He arranged for us to be met at the airport and brought right to the Riad which is inside the medina. We would never have found it on our own in pouring rain but the driver took our bags and led us right to the door. We were met by Lamiae who promptly brought mint tea to welcome us, and she then helped with bags and showed us to our room.
We had asked in advance for a guided tour of the medina to be organised, which C-S arranged, as well as two visits with drivers first to Volubilis, Moulay Idris and Meknes, and then to Azrou to see the weekly market, which was fascinating.
Nothing was too much trouble and the two ladies who looked after us on a daily basis - Lamiae who made delicious breakfasts that she varied so we never had the same thing on consecutive days, and Jalila, who looked after our room. Both ladies were always full of smiles and were alweays on hand if we needed anything.
We also met Yassine, C-S's partner who took over local arrangemetns as C-S had to return to France for family reasons. This did not make any difference to how we were looked after as Yassine was just as efficient as everyone else. He even invited us to his birthday dinner at the Riad on the last evening of our stay and we had a lovely time.
To sum up, we were treated like royalty at La Maisn Maure especailly by Lamiae and Jalila who were so professional but always friendly and smiling.

This riad is beautiful. The interior is designed with taste. The whole place is very clean. The breakfast is good and tasty. One thing to improve are the bed and pillows, they were a little uncomfortable. One other thing that was confusing is the city tax, Expedia marked it as 100RAK but the riad charged me 140RAK and I couldn't pay with a credit card despite a credit card terminal sitting on the table, luckily I had some cash on hand.

If you want to experience the essence of life in medina, this is the place. Hidden deeply in the medina, one needs to nevigate bravely to find the location. But once you get your orientation it is not hard anymore. Apart from the cleaning lady one should not expect to see a staff member. The one we dealt with speaks either French or English or Spanish But she tries. So do not expect on getting information about the city. We stayed on the top floor which has a terrace where you can see the city. Very impressive. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. Very clean. Bottle water is provided daily. Good shower. A very interesting place to stay.

This place was photographed many years ago, at some point it was nice but the rooms are dirty, dilapidated and overall a letdown. On our first morning, we found a giant roach on our luggage. And the police smelled like raw chicken and overripe produce.
The hotel was very strangely managed, we entered through the back door/ kitchen entrance. There was no front desk so if we needed anything, the staff would yell upstairs for the manager to come down. The hotel manager was very pushy about selling his local guide service.
On our last night, we let the property manager know we did not need luggage help in the morning, but he insisted he had someone available to help. After we tipped the porter, he demanded additional payment for his services, and said it was required not a tip. We would not have used them if we’d known it was not a complementary service.
Overall, there are many better places to stay in Fes, for the same or less money
