Square Hotel
The Square Hotel was very good, with an excellent breakfast bar, and centrally located. Their staff was quite good at providing recommendations, making reservations, and giving directions. The rooms were nice, with all the necessary amenities (safe, hair dryer, etc.).

Definitely not a 4 star hotel.
Small rooms. Drab decor. Not properly cleaned. Very noisy if your room is located on the busy street side of the hotel.

Not a 4 1/2 star hotel
I appreciate environmentally responsible practices, but the way they were implemented at this hotel left a very poor impression.
Housekeeping had to be requested via a mobile phone the evening before. It never occurred to me that, in a 4.5-star hotel, standard room cleaning would have to be booked in advance and leave this responsibility on the customer.
As a result, the rubbish bins overflowed, we ran out of toilet paper, and the room was not cleaned at all. This level of service does not meet the expectations associated with a 4.5-star hotel.
Supporting sustainability is, of course, a worthwhile goal. However, in this case, the policy creates a strong impression that it is driven more by cost-cutting than by genuine environmental responsibility. The hotel provides no concrete evidence of the environmental benefits achieved by this practice, nor does it clearly explain to guests the practical consequences of opting out of housekeeping.
If housekeeping is reduced for environmental reasons, this should be communicated prominently before booking, during check-in, and in the room itself. At the very least, essential supplies such as toilet paper should be replenished without requiring guests to have scheduled housekeeping in advance.
What I find particularly concerning is the reliance on sustainability messaging without providing any transparent or verifiable evidence of the actual environmental impact. This creates the impression of greenwashing: guests are given an image of environmental responsibility, while the most obvious outcome is a reduction in service quality. If the true objective is to reduce environmental impact, it should be supported by transparent and measurable results rather than by diminishing the guest experience.
The breakfast experience was also disappointing. It felt chaotic and poorly designed from a logistical perspective. The flow of guests was not managed effectively, resulting in unnecessary queues and confusion. At a hotel of this standard, I would expect breakfast to be smooth, relaxed, and well organized—not an experience resembling a crowded staff cafeteria.
Overall, the stay left the impression that several aspects of the service had been reduced at the expense of the guest experience. Combined with the confusing housekeeping policy, the experience fell well short of what I would expect from a 4.5-star hotel.

Great location, comfy bed, decent breakfast
We were really pleased with how easy it was to walk to the different neighbourhoods and districts of Copenhagen from this hotel. It was handy being so close to the train station and a metro station hub, as we came into the city on the train and left on a ferry which we took the metro to. The breakfast was plentiful and varied and as a celiac, I felt like quite a bit of it was accessible for me, and they brought me gluten free bread when I asked.

A lovely hotel, in a great location!
A lovely hotel, in a great location! The Square is a well-located hotel, minutes away from the centre, and attractions such as Tivoli Gardens; we can’t complain about how convenient the location is!
We found the beds to be really comfy. Only a small thing - the covers came off the duvet really easily at the bottom (literally a minor thing)!
The amenities were absolutely fine - a kettle and tea were provided. We didn’t use these, however. The mini fridge could be a little bigger… no room to store food items if needed (bottles only, and a tiny section for a small snack).
The bathroom floor being heated was brilliant, and the shower was very powerful. We were also very happy with the selection of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand wash/lotion (a great brand)!
The staff are friendly, and helpful, and we were able to store our luggage (free of charge), after check-out.
