Luxury with Purpose, Hospitality with Heart
The Populus was one of the most memorable hotel stays I've had in Denver. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by how thoughtfully sustainability is woven into every aspect of the guest experience. Learning that the hotel composts all food waste and plants a tree for every guest stay made me appreciate the property's mission even more.
I loved the small details, from the wildflower seed packet key cards and pressed flower artwork to the refillable water stations on every floor. Riding the elevator while listening to birds from Estes Park and then stepping into hallways designed to feel like the inside of a tree created such a calming experience. Opening my room door to the illuminated Aspen tree cutout with the city skyline behind it was a true wow moment.
Despite being in the heart of downtown, my room was incredibly peaceful and quiet. I slept wonderfully and could have happily spent the entire evening relaxing there. The locally inspired amenities, Little Owl Coffee, and my dining experiences at both Pasque and Stellar Jay were fantastic.
What stood out most, however, were the people. From Kat at Pasque to the team at Stellar Jay and Chef Blaise himself, there is a genuine passion and pride among the staff that is rare to find. You can feel how much they believe in both the mission and the hospitality they provide.
The Populus is more than a hotel, it's an experience. We will absolutely be back for our next Denver staycation.

The best experience in Denver! An unforgettable sustainable luxury.
Staying at Hotel Populus has been the best experience I have had in Denver. The hotel is super beautiful, perfectly located, and the staff is incredibly attentive and friendly. Sustainability is experienced as a true luxury: it is evident in the food, the furniture, the building materials, and even the glasses, pitchers, and products in the minibar in the room. Additionally, they plant a tree for every night of stay and allow you to monitor it!
The best part of the stay:
The restaurant on the ground floor is exceptional, with delicious sustainable food, and the rooftop bar is super elegant, with sophisticated drinks and incredible views of the Capitol and the mountains.
Culture on foot: It is only a 10-minute walk from one of the best museum areas in the world. Admission to the Clyfford Still Museum (which has beautiful architecture and exhibitions) is included in the hotel rate.
Experiencing all of this in June during Pride Month made it an extraordinary and highly valuable experience. Absolutely recommended!

Denver Disappointment
First trip to Denver. It was a family wedding. The hotel itself is interesting. Very modern. Rooms VERY small. No drawers to put any clothing in. Did have a closet to hang items but for everything else we "lived" out of the suitcase. Odd bathroom set up. Shower and toilet in a small room, sink in the main sleeping area....Over all room lighting was very dim. Did have bedside reading lights which didn't help when trying to put on makeup. Most annoying was the smell in the room. Smelled like a backyard fire or more like smoking meat. Upstairs out door bar very small, few seating tables. I am a wine drinker and found a very limited selection, I ended up with a ginger ale which cost $6.00! We did eat a breakfast and lunch there which was very good, but the prices were way high. Hotel is off the beaten path and prone to people sleeping on the streets. I feel the prices for room, drink and food were expensive. I personally would not stay there again. As a matter of fact, the city of Denver would not be on my revisit list, BUT Colorado itself will see us again.

Brings positivity to the world
I went to the coffee shop. The staff at the bar, coffee shop and front desk were amazing and welcoming.

Novel experience, every detail is thoughtful. Populus is a gem. I didn’t appreciate being forced to pre-purchase my choice between $69 for breakfast or $60 for parking. I didn’t want or need either.
