Historic atmosphere and welcoming staff

Everything from the real brass door knobs to the woodwork and the antique furnishings and decorations made us feel like we were stepping into another era - very romantic and glamorous. The staff were friendly and welcoming and helpful.

Expensive and not worth it

$399 a night seems more than a bit much for the cleanliness level of the room and facilities. Bathroom was very clean and towels were fresh but the rest of the room smelled stale and musty, surfaces, carpet, sheets and blankets felt sticky and worn out. Dogs barking incessantly in adjoining rooms were very loud, bothersome and exasperating.

We chose the inn based on its distinctive character and history as well as its proximity to the walking path around the bay. The room was pleasant -- an exceptionally comfortable bed, high ceiling, and large window overlooking the lake. The property contains many quality shops, including an excellent outdoor gear store, a large bookstore, a kitchenware store, and a brewhouse. An outstanding ice cream stand is accessible from the hotel lawn overlooking the lake. The location was perfect from our perspective; easily accessible from Canal Park, but free of the tourist congestion.

Fitgers and staff are TOP NOTCH

Fitger's is a must stay and see. The staff, especially Todd MAssie was and were outstanding. Comfort, ease of check in check out valet bellman etc couldnt have been more easy and pleasant

Fitger's was on my bucket list and i was very happy with the room and things to do around the building.Our room was awesome and we enjoyed our stay
