Ansbach is home to Hotel Birnbaum. Ansbach Residence and St. Gumbertus Church are local landmarks, and some of the area's attractions include Aquella and Playmobil FunPark. Burggarten and Museum of the 3rd Dimension are also worth visiting. This smoke-free hotel features self parking, express check-in, and free WiFi in public areas. Good enough for an overnight stay, just for sleeping, no more!
List of defects:
- Room cold, heating switched off
- Water in the bath flows in a thin jet
- A defective lamp in the bathroom, probably since forever
- TV did not go, the remote control has dead batteries, the hotel has no fresh
- Poor breakfast:
Everything almost counted: the bread rolls, butter, hardly any cheese/cold meats, no fruit, sparse supply of vegetables, napkins were missing, cutlery partly etc. also
This means: Here the care is lacking, it is a hostel without service, sufficient only for sleeping, which even for one night
The clue: In 1995, this hotel received an award from the city of Ansbach for "exemplary achievements in cityscape maintenance". The owner proudly hung the certificate framed in the hallway below. So that was 30 years ago. And since then, the owner of this hotel probably hasn't put any DM/euro into the hotel.
The only good thing: The hotel staff were very nice, the ladies can't help the poorly managed hotel.
And another good thing: Downstairs in the restaurant, the coffee machine is available all day, the coffee/cappuccino/latte macchiatto is free.

Disappointing.
When checking in, the computer did not participate. During an excessive Waiting time (we wanted to find another place to stay) we witnessed a fierce argument between a man (the boss?) and the receptionist. Fortunately in a language we didn't understand. (Romanian?) Very uncomfortable!
The room was not quite clean, there was dust on the desserts, in the bathroom lay a towel with a large oil stain. We would have dumped this at home.
At breakfast, the man in shorts and bathing slippers ran around the room without seeing and greeting the few guests as if they weren't there at all.
When checking out, the staff sat smoking in the garage from which we got our bikes. Again, no looking up, no greeting. They were busy with themselves.
All this gave the impression of not really being welcome.
Especially annoying: The hotel was the first, worst and most expensive on our bike tour.
We paid 115,- (inappropriate) euros. Later, unfortunately too late, seen that Booking.com charged 99,-€.
We can not recommend the hotel.
The only good thing: It is within walking distance to the castle and the beautiful city center.

Never again
The rooms are very noisy, conversations of neighbors and in the hallway you can understand literally. TV did not work and cups and glasses in the room were dirty.
The managing director responded to questions extremely aggressively and was visibly overwhelmed.
